Lainate, January 2017 – Carlo Gavazzi Automation, the international electronics group with activities in the design, manufacture and marketing of electronic equipment, today presents the new RSBT 45mm scroll compressor soft starters with Modbus communication.

Energy efficiency regulations in buildings are driving the need for more intelligent HVAC systems. The integration of such systems into a building management system (BMS) triggers the need to get more information down to component level. As the compressor is typically the largest energy consumer in a heat pump or chiller, measuring the energy in real time makes it possible to monitor the overall efficiency of the system. Apart from this, the data that the RSBT Modbus can measure also facilitates after-sales activities such as quicker fault finding. We also offer the possibility of modifying a limited set of parameters, thereby giving our customers further flexibility to customise the product for specific applications. Our soft starter configuration software (SCS) provides a very easy-to-use tool to visualise in a graphical way the variables that are measured by the RSBT.

Our customers need more information from the components that are used in their HVAC systems. The RSBT 45mm now features Modbus communication to meet this requirement. The variables measured by the RSBT soft starter include energy related variables, so allowing further cost saving for our customers as more functions can be integrated into one single unit. With the introduction of serial communication on the RSBT 45mm soft starters we envisage maintaining our leading position in the HVAC market by providing more intelligent and user-friendly solutions.

Designed by our Competence Centre in Malta, this soft starter series has been specifically developed to be used in HVAC system applications such as chillers, roof-tops and heat pumps.
